Bendy: Dreams Come to Life, abbreviated as DCtL, is a graphic novel based on the book of the same name written by Adrienne Kress. The book was released on August 6th, 2024.
The artists attached to the graphic novel are Christopher Hastings who adapted the book and Alex Arizmendi who drew the artwork for it.[1]
Summary
Seventeen-year-old Buddy has spent most of his life trying to escape the Lower East Side slums of New York City. Working as a delivery boy to support his family, Buddy wants to become an artist, a dream he's sure will never be realized. But that all changes when a delivery job puts him face-to-face with Mr. Joey Drew, the eccentric owner of an animation studio. Mr. Drew takes Buddy under his wing as an apprentice, thrusting him into a world unlike anything Buddy has ever seen before.
But not everything at the studio is as picture-perfect as it seems . . . Something is going bump in the night at Joey Drew Studios, something that leaves behind trails of thick, dark ink. While the studio frantically works toward their latest deadline, Buddy and Dot, the writing intern, team up to find out just what is tormenting the studio after-hours, even if it means tracking the trail to Mr. Drew himself.

The graphic novel was first quietly revealed around July 2023. Despite the release date of August 6, 2024, the book was leaked as a PDF on July 24, 2024.[Citation needed]
Differences between original novel and graphic adaptation
- Unlike in the original novel, Mr. Schwartz never appears in the beginning but he's still mentioned once by Buddy.
- Thomas Connor and Sammy Lawrence are depicted as older than implied in game and the original book, while Allison Pendle appears to look younger than implied.
- It is unclear if this is reflective of their actual ages, or just a design choice by the artist.
- Sammy from the climax scene appears to be much different than described from the original novel. He was still human instead of an ink creature, with his mask appears to use a cutout's head, as the size is much larger than seen in the games.
- Joey, in the original novel, takes Thomas and Allison from the party to the hallway in private while firing them and threaten to call security if they keep refusing to leave his studio. In the graphic novel adaptation, however, Joey simply fires them at the party.
- Sammy's sanctuary is depicted as a "broom closet" rather than his ingame sanctuary.
- Norman's and Dave's dead bodies aren't shown but their death is still commented on by Jacob.
- The graphic novel uses the Ink Demon's Dark Revival design instead of the Bendy and the Ink Machine design, which was the one described in the original book.
- While implied to transform into Beast Bendy in the original book, the graphic novel instead makes the Ink Demon grow larger.
- At the end the original novel, Buddy Boris crushes Joey's hand and throws him to the ground. While in the graphic novel, Buddy runs away as Joey panics in the background.
