Bendy is a fictional American media franchise founded by Joey Drew Studios and later obtained by Nathan Arch after the former location's closure. With the release of its first Bendy cartoon in the late 1920s, the franchise ran until 1948 with the following closure of Joey Drew Studios. It got a short revival in 1953 through a television show, and was later revived again by Nathan Arch in 1972 after years of hiatus.

Cartoons

The Bendy cartoons are a series of animated short films starring the little devil and friends. As the franchise's central media, the series started in 1929 with Little Devil Darlin' and ended around the late 1940s prior to the studio's closure in 1948.

The cartoons were really popular by the beginnings of 1940s, making Joey Drew Studios a titan in the animation industry. After the United States joined World War II, the cartoon were re-release with the purpose of aiding war bonds. However, the Bendy cartoons were less known, almost meaningless, by 1946 and were disappearing from the public, despite the studio's best attempts at reviving the franchise before its inevitable downfall.

Comics

The Bendy comics are a series of illustrated comic strips made and released from 1931 to 1946, with a known total of 49 comics. They were released through different type of strips and were popular for quite a while, before being cancelled entirely after a burst of ink pipe. The surviving comics were re-released by Archgate Films sometime in 1972 after the brand's acquirement.

Merchandise

The toys based on the Bendy characters were made and published by Heavenly Toys since 1934. All Bendy characters—Bendy, Boris, Alice Angel, and Butcher Gang—have all received plush dolls.

These products were initially manufactured by the Joey Drew Studios subsidiary Heavenly Toys, however, the brand was forced to work with an outside company for the manufacturing later on. This caused a huge drop in quality for the Bendy merchandise.

Amusement park

Inspired by other popular amusement parks, Bendy was also expanded into this direction of entertainment as well. The amusement park based on the Bendy cartoons was initially planned by Bertrum Piedmont in 1940, and would have been based in Meadowlands, New Jersey. The park was divided into four parts: Light Land, Dark Land, Big Land, and Tiny Land. However, due to Joey Drew Studios' closure, the park never saw the light of day.

While unknown to the public, the park was planned to have living mascots in the form of living cartoon characters. However, the technology used for this process failed and wasn't perfected enough to be revealed to the world.

Musics

Bendy-branded music for the franchise have been composed by the Joey Drew Studios crew. They were initially composed by the studio owner Joey Drew, and later by the newly arranged Music Department team, Sammy Lawrence and Jack Fain.

Sponsorship

During World War II, Bendy is sponsored by Briar Label's Bacon Soup cans as a spokestoon. The manufacturing company, Briar Label, sold these Bendy branded soup to the masses of the country, and supplied Joey Drew Studios with tons of Bacon Soup cans as a thank-you gift.

Television show

A Bendy television show created in 1953 after a crew for production was gathered at Kismet Production Studios, the first show had premiered in the January of the same year and continued for couple of weeks. The show gave out a few of their new kind of 3-D glasses to their test families to test this new technology's experience and nature. After Joey's unethical actions towards his test subjects were made, the show was likey canceled and stopped its production, if, these actions were leaked to the public.
