"PICKLE"
The word scattered throughout Bendy and the Brine Barrel

Bendy and the Brine Barrel, also known by it's filename "Pickle", is a joke survival horror game almost entirely paralleling Bendy and the Ink Machine's demo. It was released by "Joey Drew Pickle Inc" through Bendy: Secrets of the Machine[1] via a QR code inside of the main room, leading to a subpage on the Bendy website that had the file for the game.[2]

Synopsis

Characters

Most characters have assumed names currently. If an official name is provided within files or the game itself, it will be added here.

Main article: List of characters (Bendy and the Brine Barrel)
  • Pickle Henry (voiced by theMeatly) - A former worker for "Pickle Drew" that returned long after the pickle studio shut down. He is the main protagonist of Bendy and the Brine Barrel.
  • Pickle Drew - The owner of the pickle studio.
  • Pickle Bendy - The pickle studio's mascot.
  • Pickle Demon - A monstrous version of a pickle and the game's main antagonist.
  • Wally Pickle (voiced by theMeatly) - Seemingly a bouncing pickle constantly saying the word "Pickle", in several different tones.
  • Dead Pickle - A pickle cut in half attached to an operating table made of pickles.

Story

The story begins with Henry entering the pickle studio, which is entirely made of pickles as suggested by its name. He is there after being told by Pickle Drew to come there. After exploring the pickled area, he discovers the Brine Barrel, and wonders how to turn it on. A pathway opens up after discovering this, and he wanders until discovering the pickle room, containing pedestals that need pickles on them in order to turn on the main pickle for the brine barrel. As he leaves the, a cutout of the studio's pickle mascot appears in the hallway, later vanishing while he's not there.

Six pickles appear around the studio, and after Henry finds each one, he can return to the pickle room. He then needs to turn on the pickle pressure, sitting in the pickle theater. As Henry walks through the hall to the switch, the Pickle Demon peeks his head out before vanishing. The pickle mascot is seen moving around a little as a pickle projector projects him. After turning on the pickle pressure, Henry returns to the pickle room and turns on the main pickle. Returning to the Brine Machine (with a quick jumpscare from the Pickle Demon along the way), he finally meets the Pickle Demon fully, and it begins to chase him.

There are 4 endings to Bendy and the Brine Barrel.

Ending 1: Coward!

Throughout any part of Henry's adventure through the studio (excluding the final chase), he can simply just walk to the exit and leave.

Ending 2: Pickled

If Henry fails to escape the Pickle Demon while being chased, he will be devoured and killed by it.

Ending 3: Cheese!

There is currently no known way to obtain this ending. For all that is known, it could be a joke within the joke.

Ending 4: Escaped!

After the Pickle Demon begins chasing Henry, if he navigates the halls and makes it to the exit before being killed, he can successfully escape.

Gameplay

The gameplay much resembles the original demo of Bendy and the Ink Machine, but with a few differences.

Trivia

  • This is the first game by Joey Drew Studios Inc to not release on any proper game platforms, instead being downloaded from the website itself.[2]
  • It also seems to be the first Bendy game to use the Universal render pipeline in Unity.
  • There is still a theMeatly easter egg in this build, if the player progresses to where theMeatly's secret would be unlocked normally in Chapter 1, they can find a Pickle with a rough recreation of theMeatly's face on it.
  • There is a giant pickle with red eyes out of bounds, which is a reference to Sinny.
  • The textures of pickles found all over the game are photos taken by theMeatly.[3]
