The Gent factory is a factory building likely based in New York City, serving as one of the Gent Corporation's offices on the Eastern Seaboard. The factory was where Gent experimented on their research subjects before their closure around October 1952.

History

Establishment

The Gent factory was established and was a place where the Gent Corporation would work on their new advanced technology alongside the Ink Machine. This was also one of the locations where the blueprints for the Ink Machine was supposedly stored for archival purposes, despite the machine being invented in the Atlantic City office.

Bridging the divine

In 1948, Joey Drew Studios closes down, and the property of the studio is transferred to the creditors, one of which are the Gent Corporation, whom acquired all material produced from their collaboration with the studio. Most of this property were transported to the Gent factory, where they would be stored for future projects.

Later on, the corporation would bring in various desperate people with troubled pasts as test subjects, paying them in exchange for compliance to the tests they would be subjected to. The test subjects were put in ink-infested dorms before being spilt up for experimentation. During this period, the subjects were given injections and transmuted into rotting humans with ink infections, leading to immense pain or casualties of the test volunteers.

Gent would continue experimenting, trying to 'bridge the divide' between the real world and the ink realm, but after suspicions about their practices started to rise, the volunteers where locked into their dorms at night as Gent feared they would try to run away and expose their crimes. This would continue for some time, but eventually one hostage, Archie Carter, would manage to escape the facility using the pipes and ending up in the sewers.[1]

Closure

On October 1952, the factory alongside the company itself would shut down, leaving the fate of the rest of the test subjects unknown. Using this opportunity however, Joey Drew would reclaim the property that was taken from him by Gent, mainly the Ink Machine and the experiments.[2]

Employees

There are currently 3 known members of the factory altogether.

Behind the scenes

Notes

  1. Since the characters in New York City—Evan, Dot, and Archie—constantly propose going to the Gent factory with Evan saying he worked there before it closed down, it's very likely the factory is located within that city.
