"This was where the Gent headquarters was supposed to be, but I was looking at an empty storefront with dusty windows."
Bill Chambers, about the Gent headquarters.

The headquarters of the Gent Corporation is an inconspicuous location concealed behind the empty Gent storefront in Atlantic City, New Jersey. It is the firm’s main office among its many locations along the Eastern Seaboard.

History

Early life

The Gent Corporation was established in Atlantic City, operating out of an office behind a storefront on a dim street. Over time, Gent started to grow. As a contracting firm, it opened up offices across the Eastern Seaboard, expanding its operations. Following this, many of the workers were assigned to offices in bigger cities, where public demand for maintenance was much higher.

Invention of the Ink Machine

After partnering with Joey Drew Studios, Gent was commissioned by Joey Drew to build a machine capable of creating living creatures out of ink. Under the direction of manager Thomas Connor, the Ink Machine was invented in Atlantic City.[2] It was later installed at Joey Drew Studios of New York City in the early 1940s.

Around October 1946, following multiple failed experiments, Gent returned the Ink Machine to Atlantic City for repairs. The machine was kept in an abandoned meatpacking factory—previously used during Prohibition—where it was hidden behind a concealed door.

A few days later, Bill Chambers was hired by Thomas Connor as a handyman intern for the location. During his internship, Bill worked alongside handyman Scott on various maintenance tasks before falling victim to the Ink Demon.

Aftermath

After the Gent Corporation shut down in October 1952, their headquarters presumably closed as well.

Employees

Despite originally having many employees, only a few remained after the expansions. Only three workers are currently known.

Behind the scenes

The Gent headquarters is a location that appears in the fifteenth and nineteenth chapters of the Bendy: The Lost Ones novel.
