The prototype of the Ink Machine is an earlier version of the machine constructed by Thomas Connor of the Gent Corporation. After it was considered a failure, the prototype was taken apart and its parts were hidden away.
History
Origins
The prototype was constructed by Thomas Connor to make a machine capable of creating living creatures for Joey Drew Studios' Bendy Land project to act as the park's mascots. However, after it powered up, the machine instead opened a portal to the ink realm. Thomas was concerned by this discovery as he viewed the newly-discovered realm as something unexplainable and dangerous, therefore, he wanted to conceal its existence from the world.
He deemed the machine a failure, pulled it apart and hid the pieces away. He also hid the pieces of the machine's schematic in the Gent Security Turrets, believing only someone out of their mind would get near them.
Means to an escape
After unlocking the Gent laboratory, Boris discovered Thomas' audio log about the prototype where he learned the schematic pieces were hidden in the Security Turrets located within the Gent Workshop.
After rebuilding the schematic, Boris was able to open the seven mystery boxes scattered around his safehouse. He opened up each one and collected the prototype parts stored within them, effectively rebuilding the machine. As the machine was turned on, multiple attackers emerged in the laboratory to attack Boris while the machine was powering up. Boris fought and defeated them until the machine was finished powering. After finishing up, the machine opened up another portal, this time to the real world. Boris then entered the portal and escaped the ink realm.[1]
