"I told you I'm not opening the door until you bring me my pictures! I drew 'em! I want 'em back!"
The Mad Artist to "Phil"[1]

The Mad Artist is a Lost One that inhabits the entrance to the theater. Also, he is presumably the ink reincarnation of Bill Danton.

History

Origins

Judging by the evidence, the Mad Artist was originally a human, as he remembers Phil Clark, and Phil's audio log mentions a "freak" that keeps trying to show him pictures. At some point, he was turned into a Lost One. Phil's status is unknown, however, possibly also turning into an ink creature judging by what the Mad Artist says. However, the Mad Artist is not mentally stable anymore, meaning Phil might just be part of his memories rather than him being in the ink realm.

Always finds him

The Mad Artist is seen briefly as Henry enters the Holding Room. He is seen moving a balcony above Henry in the room. He rambles about something always finding him, and him just wanting to go home. He then walks away, and a door is heard shutting.

Missing pictures

After Audrey knocks on a door that states not to knock, the Mad Artist peeks his head out and mistakes her for Phil. He says he wont open the door until his pictures are given to him. He then shuts the hatch. If Audrey knocks again, the Mad Artist will simply keep telling her to find the pictures.

After every picture is placed on a stand, the Mad Artist's door opens, and he charges towards Audrey. He can be dealt with the same way the other Lost Ones, dying easily from a few hits. A memo is seen in the now opened story-making entrance, simply being him ranting about no one wanting to see his pictures, but him also not wanting people to steal his ideas.

Characteristics

Physical appearance

The Mad Artist looks exactly the same as all the other male Lost Ones, being a humanoid ink creature with no viewable nose and mouth, a face dripping with ink, glowing yellow eyes, partially visible bones, and simple large feet.

Personality

The Mad Artist is an insane and paranoid Lost One. He is sometimes seen rambling and is constantly afraid of one thing or the other. He can mistake two different people as one—an example of this being Audrey and Phil—possibly meaning he is partly blind. He also really enjoys making and showing off his art. He's interestingly hostile to Audrey after his pictures are placed, despite her doing his request. This attack may be because of his fear of people stealing his original characters.

Behind the scenes

The Mad Artist is a minor character and enemy that firstly debuts in Bendy and the Ink Machine: Chapter 4: Colossal Wonders[a] and later makes an appearance in both Chapter 1: Drawn to Darkness and Chapter 2: The Demon's Domain in Bendy and the Dark Revival. He is the first Lost One to debut. He is seemingly voiced by Joe J Thomas.

Other information

The balcony he's seen on has two doors at each end, not visible to Henry. The Mad Artist actually takes quite a while to walk to the left door on the balcony, further than the door shutting sound suggests. After he reaches the door, he simply unloads.

If Audrey manages to hide from the Mad Artist after he enters his attack stage, he'll continuously move around in the area until spotting her again. His voice changes to a regular male Lost One's voice during this.

Notes

  1. This is implied by a couple pieces of evidence. Both characters have the same voice actor, the drawings in Joey Drew's apartment featuring an artist Lost One with the words "When do we go home?" written underneath.
