Orphanage nuns
"We are forever in your debt, Miss Angel. Those poor children wouldn't have survived another night." |
The orphanage nuns are a group of characters who appeared in the "Dime Store"-era Bendy comics.[1]
Members
- Reverend mother - A pig nun superior who is in charge of the orphanage.
- Sister dog - A French dog nun who requested Alice to deliver the jar of pills to the orphans. Even though she is associated with the orphanage, she attended the town that was far away from her headquarter.
- Other sisters - The nuns who worked at the orphanage. These include cows, chickens, and various dog breeds.
Characteristics
Physical appearance
They are anthropomorphic animal people who traditionally took roles as Catholic nuns, wearing black dress and habit.
Personality
The orphanage nuns are typically kind women, always taking care for the orphans and having concerns about others, but that does not mean they hesitate to take action: they can and will respond to threats when they show up, like it was the case with Baron Barley and his airplane, however, they are forbidden to directly harm their foes due to their position as nuns.
Appearances
- Alice the Aviator (1940) - One nun first appears at the beginning of the comic, giving Alice the task to deliver medicines for ill orphans at the orphanage in the mountains. When Alice's plane crashes in the middle of the orphanage, the nuns rush over to see what happened. After evacuating Alice and the children, the reverend mother orders the nuns to take Baron Barley's plane by throwing everything they can at it. After taking him down, the nuns can't in any way harm him, but the orphans take care of that. At the end of the comic, the nuns are able to repair Alice's plane due to many of them being mechanics in the past.
Behind the scenes
The orphanage nuns appeared in a comic strip from Bendy: Crack-up Comics Collection.[1]
