"Scott had found this place, this old factory from Prohibition days. There were lots of places like this in the city, but this one was special. This one had more to it than at first glance." |
The Prohibition factory is an abandoned facility with multiple secret entrances located in Atlantic City, New Jersey. It was originally used for meatpacking and later repurposed for alcohol bootlegging during Prohibition.
History
Early life
The factory was used for meatpacking sometime in the mid-1920s before being abandoned.[1]
During Prohibition, the factory was used for bootlegging alcohol by bootleggers due to the exitance of hidden tunnels, which were also built by bootleggers themselves to use.[2]
Gent's storage
In fall 1946, Thomas Connor and the Gent Corporation workers brought the Ink Machine to Atlantic City. The workers took it to the abandoned Prohibition factory discovered by Scott. They stored the machine and an icebox storing the Ink Demon at the factory in a lower room, hidden behind a concealed door.
Around October 1946, Thomas took Bill Chambers to the factory to have him help fix the machine. During the repair, ink sprayed on Bill's face but he wiped it off, the two then left. The other day Bill took Constance Gray to the factory to show her the machine. During their conversation, Brant Morris arrived at the area. After some time, they found an icebox and opened it, the Ink Demon attacked Bill then the machine to flood the area with ink. The ink killed brant after he got stuck from the now-jammed secret door.
The Ink Demon started to roam inside the factory. At some point Scott encountered the demon and went insane. After the secret door was jammed, Thomas, Joey and Bill went through the connecting tunnels to reach the machine's room. During their walk Bill got attack by Scott and he ran off after Scott neutralized himself by running into a wall, Thomas and Joey then went to check on the Ink Machine.
Fight to death
Later that day, after the antidote was used on Brant; Bill, Constance and Brant went back to the factory to destroy the machine. While there, Bill picked apart the machine before getting killed by the Ink Demon. Constance ran off to dispose of the machine parts while Brant fought with the demon. After Brant successfully locked away the Ink Demon, he gave himself up to the ink once again. Constance then successfully got rid of the parts after getting saved by Buddy Boris and escaped the factory by jumping through an opening.
