Seasonal Goblin
- This article refers to the Lost One individual. For other uses, see Lost Ones (disambiguation).
The Seasonal Goblin[1] is a special Lost One type that was active during holiday periods.[2]
History
The Seasonal Goblin is usually active on Winter Festivity and Ink Demon's Eve festivities, presumed to be wandering around the ink realm to steal and stuff items in his sack. When appearing, he teleports out of nowhere but is vulnerable to those, especially Audrey, who wish to go after him for loots.[2]
Characteristics
Physical appearance
He is a short, thin male Lost One crawling on all fours, with a sack of goodies strapped to his back. In the Winter Abyss event, he wears a winter hat and his sack is filled with candy canes and presents, and strapped with a Christmas stocking. In the Ink Demon's Eve event, he wears a Carley mask and carries a large Jack o' lantern with his back.
Personality
Based on his locomotion and making silly noises, this Lost One has a goofy and seemingly mischievous personality, but his big sack of items implied that he is also somewhat rapacious.
Gameplay
As long as the holiday event is active, the Seasonal Goblin can occasionally spawn anywhere, specifically bigger areas such as the Heavenly Toys Department and the Lost City.
Unlike most Lost Ones, the Seasonal Goblin is not aggressive and will not attack the player. Instead of attacking, he will quickly scurry away in attempt to dodge the player and will disappear if left alone. This Lost One will try to run into other enemies, making it difficult for the player to catch up to him, but using the Flow ability is required. When hit, he will stagger for a moment, so use this as an advantage to keep hitting him and not letting him escape.
He can be killed for 18 drops of 10 slugs each, which totals up to 180 slugs. Looting his body will also unlock the cosmetic headwear item (winter hat or Carley's mask) for the player.
Behind the scenes
The Seasonal Goblin is a passive enemy exclusive to seasonal events in Bendy and the Dark Revival. He makes his debut in version 1.0.2.0255 for the Winter Abyss event's introduction.[2]
Inspirations
His behavior is similar to that of the Treasure Goblins from the Diablo series. Both entities are fast, non-hostile enemies carrying a giant sack of items, runs away from players when approached or attacked, drops many loots upon death, and despawns when left alone. Mike D, who is a fan of the Diablo series,[3] wanted to pitch the idea of a Bendy game's "loot goblin"-type entity upon being inspired by Diablo 3 and thus bringing this idea to life for the Winter Abyss release of Bendy and the Dark Revival,[4] and hence nicknamed this Lost One the "Seasonal Goblin".[1]
Portrayal
The Seasonal Goblin was voiced by co-creator Mike D who finds it the "most fun" for his voice acting.[5] He softly recycled his "alpha" Wilson Arch voice for the Seasonal Goblin, especially the death sound.[6]
