Bendy is a fictional American media franchise founded by Joey Drew Studios and later obtained by Arch Gate Pictures after the former location's closure. With the release of its first Bendy cartoon in the late 1920s, the franchise ran until 1948 with the following closure of Joey Drew Studios, and was later revived by Arch Gate Pictures in 1972 after 24 years of hiatus.

List of media

Cartoons

Main article: List of Bendy cartoons

The Bendy cartoons are a series of animated short films starring the little devil and friends. As the franchise's central media, the series started in 1929 with Little Devil Darlin' and ended around the late 1940s prior to the studio's closure in 1948, with a known total of 77 cartoon shorts.

These cartoons were very popular early on in the franchise's life, being the most common cartoons to appear on theaters, before completely disappearing from the public by early 1960s.

Merchandise

Main article: List of Bendy products

The toys based on the Bendy characters were made and published by Heavenly Toys. Aside from Bendy, Boris, and Alice Angel, no other characters under the Bendy brand received plush dolls as seen so far. These toys were sold across the country with them—besides various Alice dolls—selling on high terms as a "staple" by 1940.

There is a dancing Bendy-shaped clock that has similar functions to the Kit-Cat Klocks.

Board game

Main article: Dungeons & Ink Demons

A Dungeons & Dragons type game, named "Dungeons & Ink Demons" with a book on how to play it. Whether this game is exclusive to the ink realm or a recreation of it from the real world is unclear. This might imply that there are other Bendy branded games that were manufactured and presumably sold.

Amusement park

Main article: Bendy Land

Thanks to the franchise's growing popularity, Bendy was expanded into new directions, such as interactive entertainment. Because of this, an amusement park based on the Bendy cartoons was planned by Bertrum Piedmont before World War II. The park was divided into four parts: Light Land, Dark Land, Big Land, and Tiny Land. However, due to Joey Drew Studios facing bankruptcy, the park never saw the light of day.

While unknown to the public, the park was planned to have "living attractions" in the form of living cartoon characters. However, the technology used for this process failed and wasn't perfected enough to be revealed to the world, or even the investors.

Music albums

Main article: List of Bendy music

A album named "Bendy Sing Along!" was arranged by Joey Drew Studios under the compilation of 10 favorite children song, supposedly from the Bendy cartoons. While not stated, other albums might have been arranged in the later years as well.

Sponsorship

Main article: Bacon Soup

Bendy is sponsored by Briar Label's Bacon Soup cans as a spokestoon. There is also an animated commercial to advertise the Bacon Soup. These Bendy branded soup seemingly sold quite well with many being stored in Joey Drew Studios' studio building.
