The Prayer

From Bendy Wiki
Jump to navigation Jump to search

"The Prayer"[a] is the title of Sammy Lawrence's first audio log.[1]

Transcript

He appears from the shadows to rain his sweet blessings upon me. The figure of ink that shines in the darkness. I see you, my savior. I pray you hear me.
Those old songs, yes, I still sing them. For I know you are coming to save me. And I will be swept into your final loving embrace.
But, love requires sacrifice.
Can I get an amen?

Location

In Chapter 2: The Old Song, from the beginning part, at the Utility Shaft 9 after exiting the ritual room, the audio log is found on the shelf table next to the miniature Bendy cutout.

Behind the scenes

This is the first audio log found in the second chapter of Bendy and the Ink Machine, as well as Sammy's first ever audio log of the game.[1]

Development

From the Game Jolt port, the word "savior" from Sammy's subtitle in the ritual room is misspelled as "savor". This was later fixed in update patch 0.2 and for the game's Steam port release.

Also, the word "yes" from the second line of Sammy's tape transcript was there in the first release of Chapter 2. For reasons yet unknown, the word ends up removed for the DLC release of Chapter 3: Rise and Fall.

Usage outside the game

Almost entirety of the audio log's transcript was used for the official "Sammy's Sheep" limited drop T-shirt. The T-shirt's artwork was designed by Doberart.

The transcript's first sentence with slashes and diacritics was also used for the lower half of the official Bendy online store's home page during the Bendy Madness Sale.[2]

Other information

"Sammy's Sheep" T-shirt with the transcript taken from the audio log.

When the audio speech ends after playing the audio log for the first time, Sammy's voice (outside of the tape) will be heard out of nowhere, saying "I said, can I get an amen?"; this can happen only once.

Notes

  1. The title "The Prayer" comes from the Bendy and the Ink Machine game's coding script, but it was not officially used outside of the codes.
