Utility Shaft 9
Utility Shaft 9 is a location found within the Cycle.
It is an off-limits utility shaft area boarded off because of problems with the ink pipes, representing as an area used for the studio's mechanics and menial workers to access the Musical Department without interfering with the other employees' jobs.
Background
Utility Shaft 9 is the entrance, where Henry enters into the Music Department hall.
When descending the stairs, the engraver of Sammy Lawrence was found and later a cutout of Bendy with a ritual symbol behind and the side of the cutout in the inky hall.
At the end of Utility Shaft 9 is a long hallway is flooded with ink, with wood planks on both sides, flickering lights, pipes, and an open door at the end. A Few streams of ink fall down from certain parts of the hallway's ceiling. After the hallway is a corridor-like room as a straight hall pointing west and east. From the left, there is a shelve filled with numerous cans of Bacon Soup, a Bendy cutout standing in front of the ritual symbol, and "The Dancing Demon" poster. From the far right, there is a control machine pad and the entrance to the Music Department entrance.
Points of interests
- Behind the door of the room of the ritual symbol, there is a ladder that when Henry comes near a wooden plank falls.
- Sammy's "The Prayer" audio log can be found on the shelf next to the miniature Bendy cutout. After playing the audio log, Sammy's voice will echo out of nowhere, saying "I said, can I get an amen?".
- Henry has to wade into the ink, to reach the open door at the end of the hallway. Walking through the hallway that hindered his movement. Right before he reaches the door, Sammy Lawrence walks past carrying a Bendy cutout, but disappears before Henry can confront him.
- Before activating the switch to open the Music Department's entrance, Henry must locate and activate three buttons from random locations.
- The first statue of Bendy can be found here for respawning after death.
- A Searcher can spawn at the ink hall after the power is turned on from the Music Department.
- When using the Seeing Tool, the names of Lacie Benton and Bertrum Piedmont appear on their coffins.
Behind the scenes
The Utility Shaft 9 is a second starting location of Chapter 2: The Old Song from Bendy and the Ink Machine.
Development
From the first teaser of Chapter 2, the location was shown to have gone under many changes from removal of the "IT'S TIME TO BELIEVE" message and changes of the Bendy cutout head.
From the chapter's initial release, the ink hallway has a less amount of polishing details such as missing ink streams.
Other information
The Utility Shaft 9 location can be seen from the old version of the Ink Demon's flashback from some earlier versions of Chapter 1: Moving Pictures prior to the DLC release of Chapter 4: Colossal Wonders.
From the game's Hello Bendy mod, the Utility Shaft 9 sign is replaced with the "HAPPY HALLOWEEN" text.
