Bendy: The Cage, abbreviated as B:TC, is an upcoming installment in the Bendy series and a side-story to Bendy and the Dark Revival. It was first teased on October 31st, 2023, while previously being set to release in 2024 and later 2025.

The game was then announced to be on hold on April 14th, 2025. It was later revived in October 2025, and will be released in 2026.

Summary

Test your sanity as you take control of Henry in this third person horror experience taking place during the events of Bendy and the Dark Revival®.

Condemned to the Keeper prison known as "The Pit", Henry must survive the horrific inmates and mangled experiments set loose to devour him. A labyrinth of steel industrial dread lay before him as his mind is invaded by the past.

Discover the hidden blood-stained truth behind the monsters as you explore the dark levels of The Pit, slowly making your way to the very top of the facility.

Take on the darkness with your axe in brutal melee combat: Unleash fast and heavy strikes, block and parry incoming attacks, shove foes away, stomp on enemies with a vengeance, and time dodges to avoid being torn apart by the things that hunt you. Dive into the shadows for limited supplies as you embark on a twisted tale of Henry's self discovery while facing down new and familiar creatures of the ink.

Synopsis

Characters

Story

Although it is unclear on what exactly the game will contain, it will involve Henry along with his trusty axe escaping "The Pit" in order to help out Audrey, with new characters and enemies,[2] a darker tone,[3] better combat,[4] and some familiar faces.[5] It is planned to be much different from the mainline games as well.[5] Sammy Lawrence is also planned to have a major involvement in the plot,[6] with the game set to explain what exactly happened to result in his fate in Bendy and the Dark Revival.[7]

Gameplay

It is currently unknown what the exact gameplay of Bendy: The Cage will be like. Currently confirmed details include:

  • It will be third person, and it will contain new and different mechanics and features, according to theMeatly.[8]
  • It will be more of a psychological horror experience compared to other games in the franchise.[3]
  • It will contain combat, as confirmed by Mike Desjardins.[9] Combat will include mechanics such as light and heavy attacks, blocking, parrying, shoving, dodging, and stomping.[10]
  • There will be various, brand-new enemy types.[11]

Development

Announcement

Development officially started on October 31st, 2023, with the release of the first teaser trailer. It showed the name of the game, Henry Stein, and the axe. Before the game's reveal, Mike replied to tweets with gifs of actor Nicholas Cage, which is convenient since Nicholas' last name is the same as The Cage.

Initial confirmed details

The developers confirmed a lot of things after the first teaser, giving info about the game. Here's all the information the developers have said about Bendy: The Cage from October to December of 2023:

  • Visually, mechanically, and thematically it will be a lot different from the mainline Bendy games.[5]
  • It is (of course) canon to the Bendy lore.[5]
  • It has been made very clear that it will have a darker theme.[3][12]
  • It will still have combat, and it will be better than in Bendy and the Dark Revival.[9][4]
    • It will apparently have more "sprongus".[9]
    • There will also be a blocking ability during combat.[4]
  • It is not apart of the mainline series, but it's also not a small spinoff either.[8]
  • It will have more mechanics and features.[8]
  • Henry will move faster than in Bendy and the Ink Machine.[14]
  • If the fans like it on release, then some elements of Bendy: The Cage will be added to the third mainline Bendy game.[5]
  • It will lack respawning after death.[15][16][17]

SuperHorrorBro's teaser promotion

On December 2nd, 2023, Mike Bambridge (also known as "SuperHorrorBro") was given a teaser of Bendy: The Cage, showing off a skeletal Lost One-like ink entity, covered in blood.[2] It also shows an area, possibly the tunnel that the train goes through in Bendy and the Dark Revival, or a sewers area. The axe was also seen from the right corner of the screenshot.

Later, the official Bendy Twitter account officially released the teaser. However, something was slightly different than the one SuperHorrorBro had. If one brightens the teaser image, on the bottom near the skeletal Lost One's right leg is text that reads "THE COMPOSER RETURNS", hinting that Sammy will return in the game.

Steam page and more confirmed details

On January 1st, 2024, the Steam page for Bendy: The Cage was put up. It confirmed Sammy Lawrence's return, along with a reveal of another disfigured Lost One variant. It confirmed that the game will most likely come out in 2024.

Here is all the information given about Bendy: The Cage from January 2023 to the present day:

  • Sammy will be restored to his "Chapter 2" creepy glory.[18]
  • There are other mechanics besides blocking during combat.[19]
  • The game will not reuse environments from Bendy and the Dark Revival.[20]
  • It will contain:[21]
    • Blood
    • Increased body horror
    • Increased violence
    • More adult themes than any other Bendy game to date
  • Bacon Soup might make a return.[22]
  • When dying, the player has to load to a previous save file.[17]
  • The game will be less expensive than Bendy and the Dark Revival.
  • The game will likely come to PS4 and PS5.[23][24]
  • There might be a hardcore mode where the player gets one life and will lose their save if they die.[25]
  • There will be something "creepy" that players will love and hate.[26]
  • The two developers working on this game have a list of enemies to add.[27]
  • The saving system will be a mix of Bendy and the Dark Revival's and Bendy and the Ink Machine's.[28]

New teasers

On January 23rd, 2024, theMeatly uploaded a close-up development image showing an eye surrounded by some sort of red meat, with three sharp objects (presumably teeth) appearing in front of the eyeball.[29]

On the franchise's 7th anniversary (February 10th, 2024), a new teaser shows a new enemy in some sort of mechanical suit with a glowing monocle-like eye. The text on the right says "7 YEARS AND YOU AIN'T SEEN NOTHING YET."[30]

Upon release of Bendy: Secrets of the Machine on April 14th, 2024, there is a new Bendy: The Cage teaser shown at the Drawing Board's Teaser Room. It reveals a new enemy resembling the Keepers but has cartoon gloved-hands and a strange spherical head that was partly obscured by the smokes.

Delay

On October 22nd, 2024, Joey Drew Studios Inc released a development update on their social medias, stating that nothing had been canceled despite the long silence from the team. The update explains that while the game concept was solid, it wasn't shaping up the way the team wanted it to. Wanting to make this game unique amongst all the other Bendy games, the team put the development on hold for a few months to work on other Bendy projects. This had a positive impact as it fueled the team's creativity. After recently returning to Bendy: The Cage's production with fresh eyes, the game is back in full development with it now expected to be releasing in 2025.[31]

Postponed

On April 14th, 2025, Bendy: The Cage was removed from Steam and purged from all Joey Drew Studios Inc-related material. Subsequently after the 4/14 event 2025 ended, theMeatly announced that The Cage had been officially "put on ice" and most content from it had been moved to Bendy and the Ink Factory. This was done as the team felt the content within the game was too ambitious for a spin-off and better saved for a mainline game. Regardless of The Cage-related content mostly recycled for Bendy and the Ink Factory, theMeatly confirmed that Henry's pre-Dark Revival finale story will still be saved "for another time", either when The Cage finally sees the daylight or for a completely different project.[32]

Revival

On August 8, 2025, a new update patch was launched for Bendy: Secrets of the Machine. In the latest version of this game, when visiting the Drawing Board's lobby after completing the Lone Wolf level room, a dismembered Bendy arm (named 'undead' in the files) was found dangled by a blood-stained metal wire at the center of the room; it was hovering over the word "THAW", possibly teasing that the production for The Cage will finally resume at one point. It was further teased by Mike who, on the same day, responds to multiple tweets with gifs of Nicholas Cage in the same way as he did in October 2023 prior to the game's trailer reveal.

On October 23, 2025, Mike D responded to ChairThatSpin's joke tweet about the new The Cage trailer with a gif of Jim Carrey, pretending not to understand what was about.[33] Over an hour later, Mike updated his profile banner with a black background, which, when brighten up, reveals Henry in prison from the cinematic credits of Bendy and the Dark Revival, once again possibly hinting the revival of The Cage; however, it was immediately replaced with a still from the same gif.

The next day, Mike D updated his profile banner again with yet another black background that when brighten reveals to be an industrial environment design that is similar to other environments from the teasers, yet again hinting the revival of The Cage. Later that day, an update to Bendy: Secrets of the Machine introduced an event in which players were required to find a frozen pumpkin in the Lone Wolf room and then use Mr. Boiler in the basement in order to thaw it, furthering the "thaw" messaging and hinting further at The Cage's revival.

On October 27th, 2025, the Bendy Twitter account would post an image, revealing that a teaser was set to release on Halloween 2025.[34] Alongside the announcement, a second teaser was released in Secrets of the Machine (with Henry in the background), as well as theMeatly[35] and Ben Lacroix[36] making tweets featuring imagery of burning/thawing ice.

On October 31st, 2025, Bendy: The Cage was officially re-announced with a 2026 release date, alongside a reworked Steam page and a brand-new teaser trailer. Over the following weekend, theMeatly, Mike D, and Ben Lacroix would explain why the project was revived, as well as sharing various pieces of gameplay information on Twitter regarding Bendy: The Cage.

On November 3rd, 2025, a teaser was posted to Twitter showcasing Sammy Lawerence's brand-new model, with theMeatly reiterating his return and major role in Bendy: The Cage.
