"What a wonderful day."
Edgar from the comic adaptation of All Washed Up.

Edgar is a cartoon character and a member of the Butcher Gang from the Bendy cartoons by Joey Drew Studios.

Characteristics

Physical appearance

Edgar is a spider-like creature with large lips, puffed cheeks, and a pair of small, pointed fangs. Unlike actual arachnids, he sports only six legs instead of eight. Despite being quadrupedal, he mostly uses his two front feet as arms.

Personality

Unlike the other members of the Butcher Gang group, this squeaky spider is cheery, childish, and playful who almost never has anything to do wrong or be antagonistic towards Bendy except on few occasions, such as in the small Demonic Tonic clip where he briefly grins obnoxiously at Bendy, and during his outburst of sorts in The Butcher Gang.

Appearances

Cartoon appearances

  • The Butcher Gang (1935) - Along with the other two, this is Edgar's first appearance.
  • Tasty Trio Troubles (1935) - Edgar works at the restaurant with the gang as a chef on cooking burgers.
  • Demonic Tonic (year unknown) - Edgar and the other members trap Bendy in the bottle.

Comic appearances

  • Construction Corruption (1941) - This is Edgar's first earliest known comic appearance.
  • All Washed Up (year unknown) - Edgar saves Bendy, Boris, and Alice from falling down a waterfall with a rope.
  • Giddyup, Bendy! (1946) - Edgar appears with Barley and Charley as Western outlaws on a hobby horse.

Behind the scenes

Edgar is one of the cameo cartoon characters who first appeared in Chapter 3: Rise and Fall of Bendy and the Ink Machine, where he was seen with the two other members from the The Butcher Gang poster. His cutouts also appear in Bendy and the Dark Revival, along with his duck toy which was seen from the Tasty Trio Troubles short. His corrupted enemy counterpart called 'the Striker' appeared in several games of the series.

Although his name was not seen in-game when he makes his first debut in Bendy and the Ink Machine, his name was officially revealed from theMeatly's top Bendy and the Ink Machine: Chapter 3 facts video.[1]

Edgar making squeaky noises in cartoons is an idea given by sound designer Connor Grail,[2] who was an ex-member of Joey Drew Studios Inc.
