Charley
Charley is a cartoon character from the series of Bendy cartoons by Joey Drew Studios and one of the main antagonists of the Bendy media. He is the leader of a gangster-like trio group: the "Butcher Gang".
Description
Physical appearance
Charley, the tallest of the gang,[1] is a nearly bald humanoid with large ears, oval-shaped head, a black animalistic nose, sideburn-like hair, and a beard with a faint resemblance to Bendy's horns. He also has sharp teeth, but they were occasionally visible whenever he is angered or grinning.
He wears a tailcoat and vest, a black tie, white gloves, and black shoes.
Personality
The leader of the Butcher Gang, Charley is devious, impatient, and has slight anger issues. He is morally ambiguous as well as unscrupulous when carrying out his schemes, seen when stealing coins from the cash register in the "Tasty Trio Troubles" cartoon.

- The Butcher Gang (year unknown) - This is Charley's first possible appearance with the two other members of the gang.
- Tasty Trio Troubles (1935) - As one of the main characters. At the restaurant, he's in charge as a cashier.
- Demonic Tonic (year unknown) - With his other members, Charley shrunk and trapped Bendy in a bottle.
Behind the scenes
Charley, along with Barley and Edgar, first appear in the third chapter of Bendy and the Ink Machine from The Butcher Gang poster. While some dedicated promo assets were seen, a corrupted enemy counterpart named the Piper appears in Bendy and the Ink Machine, Bendy and the Dark Revival, and Bendy: Lone Wolf.
Development
Charley was created by theMeatly after designing the Piper that the cartoon character is based on.[2] He is the creator's favorite character of the Butcher Gang.[3]
When TimetheHobo first animated the Butcher Gang, she thought about Charley and Barley having an achillean relationship.[4]
Species debate
Charley's species was debatable due to lack of official source. Charley was first speculated to be a chimpanzee judging by the large ears and a black nose similar to the distinctive traits of primate characters from the rubberhose cartoon media like Fleischer, however the animator TimetheHobo deconfirms it as a case.[5]
