"And I got to know the world underground. I got to know the theater and the studio. I watched, hidden, as they were merged together. I watched Mister Drew fire people and hire new ones, and I watched as he tried to make the machine work."
Boris the Wolf.

Boris the Wolf, nicknamed Buddy Boris, is a Boris clone created with the soul of Buddy Lewek. He was created per Joey Drew's order as a way to make a physical version of Boris the Wolf for his Bendy Land project.[1]

History

Origins

After Beast Bendy drowned Buddy in the ink along with himself, the Ink Machine revived him as a perfect clone of Boris, supposedly because his soul was uninfected beforehand. Observing Buddy as he gained consciousness, Joey revealed what happened to Buddy and even told him to accept his new self and not talk or make sense of it as it would only frustrate him, even though he was already frustrated to begin with.

As Buddy realized he had lost the ability to speak, Joey attempted to entice Buddy into accompanying him to an undisclosed location, supposedly containing an abundant amount of food. Despite Boris the Wolf's personality beginning to take control, Buddy was able to resist this for one final act: crushing Joey's hand, throwing him to the floor and running deep into the studio, hiding away from him and witnessing the secrets of the underground world.

Story

As time went on, Buddy slowly started to lose his memories due to Boris' consciousness overriding his own. So he decided to preserve what happened to him by writing it all down. Hoping that someone—especially Dot—would find, read it, and stop Joey Drew from hurting any more people with his Ink Machine experiments.

As he finished writing down his story, he added one last plea to Dot, urging her to save the world from the same fate he suffered, before it was too late. Straight after, he was fully overtaken by the mindset of Boris the Wolf and lost all of his memories. Even so, he continued his new self-appointed purpose of rescuing people from the dangers of the ink.

Saving Constance

While the Gent Corporation took the Ink Machine to Atlantic City for maintenance, Boris somehow ended up in the city as well, alongside the Ink Demon, thanks to a special connection to the machine.

While he was at the Prohibition factory, Boris saw Constance Gray running down one of the tunnels, which ended at a drop. So he followed her from behind and grabbed her, saving her from falling into the ocean. He then quickly vanished back into the darkness after Constance turned around and saw his shadow. What happened to Boris after this is currently unknown.

Characteristics

Physical appearance

The ink incarnation of Boris is a more humanoid and realistic version of the cartoony wolf character he's based on. He is a tall and wolf-like humanoid, having pie-cut eyes and long ears, with rosy cheeks and freckle-dots on his muzzle. He also has segmented teeth that are occasionally visible.

Similar to the cartoon, his outfit consists of black boots, light-colored pants with suspenders, instead to Boris' usual overalls, with patches on its back and knees and a pocket on its front, and lastly a pair of large gloves over his hands.

Personality

Due to Boris having dual consciousnesses—Buddy Lewek and Boris the Wolf—his personality can shift or change depending on who is in control.

Buddy's consciousness retains his regular human characteristics, with him being a compassionate person. He is usually well-intended and tries to protect people from danger whenever he can, despite occasional cowardly behavior. As time gone on, Buddy's consciousness was mostly overridden by Boris, but he still retains the protective impulses.

Boris' consciousness is more oblivious and simple-minded, mostly driven by basic desires like food and sustenance. He is less intelligent and more innocent compared to Buddy, and is initially unaware of the schemes he's subjected to. However, he does develop stronger survival skills, likely because of the dangers in his surroundings, such as the Ink Demon.

Behind the scenes

Buddy Boris is a main protagonist of Bendy: Dreams Come to Life, acting as the novel's narrator. He is also mentioned throughout the novel, but he only physically appears at the end of the story. He also briefly appears in Bendy: The Lost Ones as he saves Constance.
